Snow-White and the Seven Dwarfs– a tale from the Brothers Grimm translated by Randall Jarrell and pictures by Nancy Ekholm Burkert
Snow-White and the Seven Dwarfs is beautiful folk-lore. Snow-White is born to a royal family. Her mother dies giving birth to Snow-White. She is the fairest and prettiest of all just as her mother desired. However, when her father takes another wife, she is envious of Snow-White’s beauty and contrives to kill her. Snow-White escapes and lands in the seven dwarfs’ house who gives her shelter.
This is a tale of an innocent and beautiful Snow-White against her evil step-mother. Each conspiracy to kill Snow-White makes the reader want to snatch the step-mother out of the story. Nonetheless, good triumphs over evil. This is an enchanting folk-lore that will easily win the hearts of its readers.
