Bullying Causing Deterioration in Relationship Between Nepal and India

I’m incredibly astounded by reading a comment from an ignorant former Indian diplomat to Europe. I’m posting this here because the Times of India didn’t allow me to post it in their comment box, saying that my post contains inappropriate stuff while letting some Indian commentators foul-mouthed comments against Nepalese in the same thread.

Let me get the facts straightened for those who strongly believe that India is not blocking supplies to Nepal or have a conviction of doing nothing wrong while violating half a dozen of international treaties with Nepal. India even does not have a gut to say that they have unilaterally imposed a sanction on Nepal for not meeting their demands to amend a new constitution that came out after a decade-long political chaos and instability.

Generational Madhesis are being marginalized by these so-called Madhesis. Some Pahadis (people from the hilly region) have, definitely, played a role for displacing or subjugating these simple and generous true Madhesis from their own lands. Truth hurts but cannot be hidden under the bushel.

Nepal, as a sovereign nation, has every right to choose her fate on her own by promulgating a constitution that was approved by 91% members of the constituent assembly. By doing so, Nepal hadn’t committed a crime but exercised her right to protect, garner, and defend her sovereign interest. There is no known nation in the world that allows its naturalized citizens to run for president or prime minister or chief of justice. Indian government’s vested interest in putting pressure on Nepal government to amend the constitution on this regard is morally and ethically wrong as well as against the spirit of democracy.

He mentioned that Madhesis are treated as second class citizens. He needs to do some fact check before blurting out something that is fed by Indian propagandist media. Naturalized Biharis in Madhes are the most privileged ones in Nepal. Generational Madhesis are being marginalized by these so-called Madhesis. Some Pahadis (people from the hilly region) have, definitely, played a role for displacing or subjugating these simple and generous true Madhesis from their own lands. Truth hurts but cannot be hidden under the bushel.

He also talked about Tamil Tigers in Sri Lanka. Who was behind that bloody civil war for 25 years in that country? The international community knows well that the government of India was the one who was sponsoring and training Tamil Tigers to wage that world’s longest civil war against the state of Sri Lanka. The defeat of Indian government backed Tamil Tigers by the help of China was a bitter pill to swallow for his government. The same government sponsored and provided shelter to Maoists of Nepal who was declared and enlisted as terrorists by the USA and other European countries during the 10 years long arms conflict in Nepal. This speaks volumes about the foreign policy of India. Either he is just being an ignorant hypocrite or he is feeding himself all the crap that comes out of state news or other bigoted outlets.

We know China is also not a holy cow. They have their shrewd interest of their own in helping Nepal. Let’s be clear on this matter that India is no different than China either. Let’s leave the topics on encroachment of thousands of acres of land in the border, unequal treaties, bullying in our water etc. for another day. I’ve many good Indian friends but as a nation, India is in the verge of losing a good friend and neighbor to his worst enemy by pushing Nepal close to North. Having said this, Nepal is also not going to win anything big in this diplomatic battle, though. Indian childish foreign policy is going to cost both nations in the long run if not mended immediately, but only China emerges victorious from this conflict.
